What Is Root Canal Therapy?
When it comes to dealing with dental damage or decay, our team at Hollywood Dental and Orthodontics always tries to provide relief using the most conservative treatment possible, like crowns or bridges. However, when damage has reached the pulp of the tooth, we might recommend root canal therapy to preserve your smile and prevent any infection from spreading. You might have heard that root canals are painful, but modern dental techniques have made this procedure more convenient and comfortable than ever. If you're looking for experienced dental professionals who perform root canal therapy in Benbrook, TX, reach out to Hollywood Dental and Orthodontics and schedule your consultation with our friendly team.
How Is A Root Canal Done?
During your consultation, we'll conduct a thorough dental exam and talk about what you can expect during your treatment. We perform root canal therapy at our Benbrook, TX practice using anesthesia to help you keep comfortable during your procedure. After numbing the treatment area, we'll set up a small dam around the tooth to keep anything from getting in or out as we work. Once you're ready, we'll drill a small opening into the upper part of the tooth to access the pulp, which will be cleaned out. We'll then disinfect the inner tooth before filling and sealing it. When we're finished, we may cap your tooth with a dental crown to reinforce it.
What Are the Benefits of Root Canal Therapy?
At Hollywood Dental and Orthodontics, we do everything we can to help our patients preserve the natural health and beauty of their smiles. If you have an infected tooth, root canal therapy may be able to save it from removal. Some of the benefits of this treatment include:
- Relieves pain
- Clears out infected dental tissues to prevent future health complications
- Allows you to eat and talk comfortably again
- Provides an alternative to extraction in many cases
- Preserves the health and structure of your teeth
Because it is a vital treatment for preserving your dental health, root canal therapy is often covered (at least in part) by insurance. If you have any questions about your insurance, our friendly staff will be happy to help you understand your policy and prepare any required paperwork.
Root Canal Therapy Reviews
I'll start by saying, it's been 25 years of me absolutely not going to the dentist unless I had to. My first visit here was for a root canal, Cynthia and Dr El were both so phenomenal I scheduled my next appointment the same day. I usually have to be sedated for my dental treatments but the time and patience they showed me is unparalleled in any other dentist I've ever been to personally or heard about from family & friends. I just had my follow up today after my root canal and it was the same glorious treatment I had previously, Dr El has the biggest heart of any Dr I've ever met with. The time she takes to help explain, to teach, to comfort - completely unseen nowadays. In just two visits she's taught me how to easily floss, what to look for and during each procedure she tells me what to expect during and after. It's a level of comfort I've never had and I look forward to coming back to see her and getting more taken care of, I cannot say enough about how calming and (dare I say Dr El can be really funny) hilarious it is to have an appointment here. I laugh during my appointment which has never happened before, I even almost fell asleep during my root canal! I'm just thrilled and incredibly thankful and lucky to have found her and her amazing staff. Thank you!!
